Christmas is coming! We’re delighted to announce that Brilliant Brighton’s Christmas lights are now switched on!
The lights are collectively funded by our 517 Brilliant Brighton businesses in North Street, Western Road, Preston Street, Bond Street, Gardner Street, Western Road, Kensington Gardens, East Street, Brighton Place, Market Street and Meeting House Lane, at a cost of £75,000 per year.
The switch was flicked on ready for residents to enjoy as they walked home, last night (Thursday 14th November) hopefully getting everyone into the festive spirit, with canopies of twinkly lights in The Lanes and North Laine and the much-loved Christmassy words (including Fairy, Twinkle and Love) once again lighting up North Street and Western Road, until early January 2020.
“We always look forward to lighting up the city during the festive period,” Gavin Stewart, Brilliant Brighton’s CEO says. “The city’s Christmas lights are a gift to the city’s residents and shoppers from our 517 businesses and we hope that they brighten up the long evenings and make Christmas shopping extra magical!”
Speaking of shopping, there are many events taking place in Brilliant Brighton throughout the festive season though for the city to enjoy, including a late night shopping event in North Laine on Thursday 5th December. This will see many of Brighton’s independent traders stay open until 8pm so people can tackle their to-buy lists while feeling festive – thanks to celebratory tipples and exclusive on-the-night discounts. We’ll also be holding a Brilliant Brighton Bricks Trail (23rd November – 22nd December), in partnership with Brighton Bricks, due to the success of last year’s event! This will see LEGO Minifigures hidden in store and restaurant windows across the city centre, for big and little kids alike to find in the hope of winning one of three fantastic prizes! Keep checking back here for further details.
