Between Saturday 23rd November – Sunday 22nd December 2019, hundreds of trail-goers took to Brilliant Brighton’s streets to find the 42 LEGO Minifigures hidden in windows across the city.
The Brilliant Brighton Bricks Trail – an event organised by Brilliant Brighton (formed of 517 businesses in the city centre) and local community group Brighton Bricks – aimed to get local residents and daytrippers alike enjoying Brighton’s festivities and varied array of stores, cafes and restaurants, while hunting down the LEGO figures, in the hope of winning one of three fantastic prizes.
“We’re thrilled that so many people took on this year’s trail,” Shelley Welti Brilliant Brighton’s Media Officer says. “From groups of friends to LEGO enthusiasts, couples to whole families, the trail saw fun-lovers of all ages get involved.”
“We’ve had some fantastic feedback from many trail goers letting us know that they’ve loved visiting Brilliant Brighton businesses that they hadn’t before, which is great!”
Nick Bright from Brighton Bricks is also pleased that so many people took on the trail and found new favourite establishments: “One of the reasons I love doing this trail is getting people discovering new shops and eateries, and hearing first-hand from people how doing the trail has helped them check out new places makes me smile. It is also the reaction from the shops which makes this so worthwhile, the reactions from businesses choosing which Minifigure to hide is priceless and so much fun.”
The three fantastic prizes worth a total of almost £1,000 (which combines LEGO sets worth up to £89.99, as well as cash amounts of up to £400), were donated by Brilliant Brighton’s Ambassadors, who patrol city centre streets each day, assisting with everything from security to signposting visitors and offering first aid.
“We enjoy donating prizes for the Brilliant Brighton Bricks Trail,” Lead Brilliant Brighton Ambassador (and LEGO fan), Kat Bradshaw-Denton explains. “We really enjoy seeing families and friends of all ages spotting the hidden figures in businesses’ windows, as we are on duty throughout the city centre. We hope the winners enjoy their prizes!”
The three lucky prize-winners have now collected their prizes, with winners from across Brighton and the wider area. Local resident and dad of two Michael Walsh was drawn as first prize winner – to his, and his family’s delight.
“We had a great time doing the Brilliant Brighton Bricks Trail,” the winner of a LEGO City Deep Space Rocket & Launch Control set worth £89.99 plus £400 cash prize says. “The whole family enjoyed it and the children were particularly good at spotting the LEGO figures. We’re delighted to have won! I think we’re all going to have fun playing with the LEGO set and spending the cash prize on something special. Thank you!”
