A SUPER-SUSTAINABLE START TO THE YEAR AT WAHACA
Planet-friendly street food on the house – and a brand new vegan menu
As the UK’s most sustainable dining destination* Mexican restaurant group Wahaca is starting the year in suitable style with a January packed with planet-friendly and plant-based street food. To help inspire customers to eat more sustainably, Wahaca is kicking off 2022 by giving away some of its most sustainable street food dishes, as well as launching a dedicated vegan set menu that’s perfectly timed for Veganuary.
What better way to start the year than by trying something that’s not just delicious – but won’t cost the earth? Throughout January, Wahaca is encouraging customers to get stuck into their most sustainable street food dishes for free – with a mouth-watering choice of Allioli mushroom club quesadillas, Zesty bean & feta tostadas, Organic squash and crumbled feta tostadas, Plantain tacos and Grilled ‘halloumi Al Pastor’ tacos. Each of the dishes has been created with sustainability firmly in mind, using some of the freshest and most responsibly-sourced ingredients available, including Riverford Organic squash and organic pulses from Hodmedod’s. Vegan versions of all dishes (except Grilled ‘Halloumi al pastor’ tacos) are available. Visitors can claim their free dish via a downloadable voucher from wahaca.co.uk. **
Just the ticket for those of us embarking on a Veganuary journey – or anyone feeling inspired to embrace more plant-based eating in 2022, Wahaca’s new Vegan set menu (serves two: £19 each, £38 total) serves up a fresh, delicious feast of plant-powered street food dishes. Joining the marvelously moreish Ancho mushroom tacos and Plantain tacos are Black bean & vegan cheese quesadillas, Organic squash tostadas and Zesty bean tostadas, complemented by sides of Sweet potato and Chargrilled tenderstem broccoli.
Wahaca co-founder Thomasina Miers commented “January is a time for taking stock, feeling inspired and trying new things. As well as making sure that our vegan offering is the strongest and most varied it ever has been, we’re determined to continue pushing ourselves to tread as lightly on the planet as we possibly can throughout 2022, and so the start of the year feels like the perfect time to give our customers the opportunity to enjoy some of our most sustainable street food – on us!”
