Put the date in your diary, as the last Third Thursdays in this pilot season takes place in Brilliant Brighton on Thursday 21st April between 7-10pm! The season finale brings FREE cultural activities to the city centre, including outdoor video games, laser light shows, film projections, exhibitions, music and more, promising a night to remember.
The fifth Third Thursdays Brighton event (a partnership project between Brilliant Brighton BID – formed of 517 city centre retail, leisure and hospitality businesses, and the ABCD Cultural Recovery Plan, over 100 creatives who have come together to add more inclusive, sustainable and collaborative culture to the city, following the pandemic), follows four successful arts-filled evenings, that have seen thousands of culture-lovers, enjoy free film trails, music and more.
For April’s season finale, commissioned films, inspired by the theme of memory, will be projected onto buildings in East Street and into North Laine with the return of the highly anticipated film trail, starting at the entrance to East Street Arcade, East Street, at 8pm.
Continuing the memory theme, a playful exhibition from Brighton-based Originary Arts explores the power of smell and scent to evoke and unlock memories, with stories shared as visuals and audio in Lush on East Street.
Films in businesses’ windows (including Lush and Ace & Tate) further add to the theme, throughout the evening, while further interactive fun, such as Laser Lunar Lander by Seb Lee-Delisle (land your Lunar Module safely on the moon, in this laser reimagination of the iconic retrogame) in Market Street, and Brighton Youth Centre lead a live outdoor gaming experience on East Street, bringing gaming to the streets, with the game projected onto a building, making it both interactive and a spectacle for audiences
Gardner Street will also be transformed with Thomas Buckley’s ‘Remembering Place’ – a collage of memories collected from the people of Brighton and Hove by the artist. Shown via projection, memories will float in the air, evoking ghostly recollections of the past.
