Shelter is a charity helping millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, representation, support and campaigning.
AllSaints and Shelter have paired up as national partners, working together to fight against homelessness and fashion waste – in the UK alone it’s estimated that 700,000 tonnes (140m worth) of waste and clothing end up in landfills every year. By working with Shelter we are encouraging people to reduce this waste. It’s time to recycle, upcycle and shop more consciously for responsible styles that are made to last.
This is our second year collaborating with the charity. It all started with a store takeover – Boutique by Shelter in Coal Drops Yard. The event was held over 10 days and we donated over 1000 pieces of surplus stock. We organised various workshops and activities such as scrunchie making (using excess fabric) and hand-stitched monogramming – all organised by the AllSaints in-house design teams. Over the weekend Millie Cotton set the scene by playing an unforgettable DJ set. Using surplus material we created a ‘Fabric Shop’, this was a big hit with the students at Central Saint Martins.
This 10 day collaboration was the most successful-ever event for the store in raising money for Shelter.
To collect any charitable donations Shelter stations were placed in various AllSaints stores across the country. Plus, for the month of October with every order a free post label was provided, allowing customers to post pieces from their local Collect+ point to their nearest Shelter store.
Together we designed a limited edition t-shirt which was available to purchase at the Shelter CDY Boutique and selected UK AllSaints stores – all profits from each sale went to Shelter.
This year we continue our partnership with a road trip across the UK, collaborating across 8 Shelter stores! In each location we will donate 250 pieces of surplus stock to be sold for full profit. In addition to this we are working with Penny Goldstone, Digital Fashion Editor of Marie Claire, who will select her top 40 key pieces – these will then be sent to the 9 pop ups and distinguished by a personalised swing tag. In select stores there will be DJ performances and local influencer visits. Lastly, we have created another limited edition t-shirt, with all profits from each sale going to Shelter.
