Best Charity Shops in Brighton

Brighton’s Charity shops are havens, full of second-hand & vintage treasures. Whether you’re an eco-conscious shopper on the hunt for a new tea set, a vintage enthusiast looking for unique clothes or you just love a great bargain! You’ll be sure to find an abundance of pre-loved items instore at one of the many Charity shops in town, all whilst supporting some fantastic charities.

BARNARDO’S

SHELTER

OXFAM

Oxfam Charity shops sell a wide variety of donated clothes and accessories along with books and music. Also stocking an attractive range of greetings cards. Striving to purchase goods and services which are produced and delivered under conditions which do not involve abuse or exploitation, and which have the least negative impact on the environment.

Oxfam shops are always delighted to accept donations of quality undamaged items that you no longer want. Alongside their industry leading recycling partner CTR, Oxfam has its unique recycling plant where any textiles that are not sold in shops are sent for recycling, helping reduce the amount of clothes that go to landfill.

OXFAM BOOKSHOP

Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to classics and rare or collectable books. Also stocking a wide variety of music, new gifts, Fairtrade food and drink and cards for all occasions.

Oxfam is the largest retailer of second hand books in Europe, selling in the region of 11 million books per year. Most of the 750 Oxfam shops around the UK sell books, and around 100 of these are specialist bookshops or specialist book and music shops.

So whether you are searching for a Folio Society edition of Hardy’s ‘The Mayor of Casterbridge’, a 1970’s Beano Annual, or a good holiday read, Oxfam is a great place to look.

Books are donated directly to shops by the public, or through more than 1000 Oxfam ‘book and music banks’ in convenient locations around the country.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

Visit the British Heart Foundation Western Road store where you will find a great range of pre-loved items as well as new items, from clothing, shoes and accessories to books, toys and homeware. They also have greetings cards for all occasions, pin badges and small gifts, all raising funds for research into heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.

The Brighton store also regularly needs volunteers. Which can be great experience to add to a CV, helps to gain experience in retail, offers flexible hours with a fun and friendly team. If you’re looking for a bit of volunteer work, pop into the Western Road store for a chat.
