The Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors are dedicated to making our city a safe and welcoming place, and work every day (bar Christmas day). From offering crime assistance and first aid to guiding visitors to the best shops, restaurants, and cafes, they’re a hardworking and friendly team that plays a vital role in our community.
To give you a closer look at the incredible work they do, we’re highlighting a different Ambassador each month. This month, we’re featuring Issy, who has been a valued member of the team for nearly three years.
Hi Issy! Can you tell us a little about what a day being an Ambassador looks like?
No two days are ever the same we can be dealing with a variety of incidents from anti-social Behaviour or shoplifting to first aid or assisting members of the public with directions. Brighton is such a vibrant city, we always have something going on from a large-scale event taking place to a new store opening.
What do you enjoy most about being an Ambassador?
The biggest highlight in this role is meeting so many different people. From our BID members to the city’s visitors, we get to meet people from all over the world. It’s wonderful to be a part of helping people even if it’s just with directions or a little reassurance. We get to hear about where people are from any why they have come to our city to visit.
What’s the best thing about your role?
If I had to choose the best part of my role as a BID Ambassador, it would be supporting our members when they suffer stock losses. We thrive on conducting the initial investigation and following up with our partners to identify suspect and retrieve stock. The team really pulls together to provide the best service for our members. In addition, I like to keep the team well fed and often bake a tasty treat for them!
