KMA Gallery is excited to welcome two brand new painters to the gallery this month, Ashley Hanson and Moira Hazel, exhibiting alongside a vibrant mix of other paintings, sculptures and ceramics by an exciting roster of artists.
Ashley Hanson creates serial collections often inspired by the coastal landscape or novels such as ‘City of Glass’ by Paul Auster, bringing the essence of each book or place to the canvas through a vibrant marriage of colours and tactile textures. An award-winning artist who regularly exhibits across the UK, Ashley works in a wide-ranging scale up to large 150cm works, creating free and surprising paintings that have an immediate impact and presence.
Influenced by the Australian way of life and culture, Moira Hazel’s bold colour palette celebrates the hot, rich tones of the land’s rock patterns and plant forms. She is not confined in her style to realism and so there is often an almost abstract quality to her compositions. Her landscapes take on patchwork-like patterns reflecting those found in nature, which result in paintings with a highly contemporary style bursting with energy. She has exhibited extensively across the UK.
Also on show are a stunning new collection from abstract landscape painter David Hayward, deeply emotive works from Italian sculptor Davide Galbiati, and highly detailed landscapes on ceramic vessels by Isabel Merrick, among many others.
These artworks are on view curated across two floors at Kellie Miller Arts, 20 Market Street.
