Personalise an upcycled fabric gift bag, stocking or mini banner with your own Christmas message in this festive workshop at The Stanley Road Department Store.
With no sewing involved and no prior experience needed, workshop-goers will use a simple applique technique and reusing odds and ends of textile scraps, to take away a finished piece, ready to hang at home or give as a gift.
The workshop is led by local artist Sam Hobbs who makes, exhibits and sells her own work alongside teaching art in a local secondary school. She uses textiles, print and collage techniques in her work. An expert in applique, Sam has recently made banners and altered garments using this technique for a project called ‘Power to the People’, which formed part of her masters degree in Fine Art. See more from Sam via her Instagram @arthobbs.
Tickets are £25 including all materials and a glass of fizz. Purchase these here.
Taking place between 6:30-8:30pm on Thursday 16th November, the workshop is part of Hanningtons Lane’s festive Christmas lights switch-on, which will see Brighton’s Gay Men’s Chorus performing and adding to the festive atmosphere from 6pm.
