Chess takes centre stage at Brighton opticians

Calling all budding chess players! Brighton’s local Specsavers store invites players of all ages to take part, play the beautiful game of chess and possibly make some friends whilst you do so.

The North Street Specsavers event will see chess boards strategically placed around the store. Hoping to promote healthy social gaming, as well as offering customers the opportunity to indulge in an activity that invites face-to-face interaction.

The event has been organised by local entrepreneur Nduwisi Uba, who has successfully introduced chess clubs into schools across Brighton. He uses the game to foster cognitive development and social interaction among students. Through his business, New Era Concerns, Uba promotes mindful entertainment and intellectual growth.

Nduwisi says: ‘We are excited to bring this timeless classic game to Specsavers Brighton. Chess transcends generations and backgrounds, making it a perfect platform for social interaction. Today’s event will hopefully see customers engaging in friendly matches where they will exercise their mental faculties and just have a bit of fun.’

Lateef Iqbal, director at the store, says: ‘We are delighted to welcome Nduwisi to the store and can’t wait to see how everyone takes on the challenge. It should be a fun day and I may even give it a go!’
