What The Pitta, the UK’s go-to vegan kebab spot, are incredibly proud to announce that they have been shortlisted for Uber Eats Sustainable Restaurant of the Year! With sites in Brighton, Manchester and London, this nod most certainly highlights the brand’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.
About the Award
The Uber Eats Award celebrates culinary excellence and sustainability. What The Pitta stands out for its ethical and eco-conscious approach, from in-house preparation to waste reduction.
“Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our packaging is eco-friendly, with a shift away from plastic to materials like bagasse and wood for utensils, and recyclable paper for bags. Energy efficiency is a priority, and our staff is trained to conserve energy by turning off lights and equipment when not in use while using water efficiently.”
Moreover, we don’t let anything go to waste. We repurpose used cooking oil for biofuel through sustainable practices. Transparency is key for us, and we are a proud partner with Klimato to calculate and display the carbon emissions of each dish, empowering our customers to make climate-friendly choices. Collaboration with forward-thinking companies is also a part of our ethos, supporting initiatives like Toast, which transforms surplus bread into beer, and Fauna, which contributes profits to wildlife conservation.
Above all, we are proud to be a 100% vegan establishment, recognising the substantial positive impact of a plant-based diet on energy conservation, emissions reduction, and the well-being of all living beings. At our core, we believe that making sustainable choices through great food is the way forward for a better planet. Being shortlisted reflects our team’s dedication and our customers’ shared vision to do better for our planet.”
Winners will be announced at the upcoming award ceremony in the Pompadour Ballroom at the Hotel Cafe Royal on October 5th!
