Brighton City Centre has seen a dip of vacant shop units from 6.97% to 6.72%, while the Business Improvement District is currently 6.16% vacant.
The national average is currently 12.2%.
The city’s independent retails sector also continues to thrive. The wider city centre currently contains 69% of independent businesses versus 31% nationally. In the BID area that drops to 66% of independently run businesses. Nationally, 65% of businesses are independently owned.
The quarterly review is carried out by Brilliant Brighton, the city’s Business Improvement District.
