With International Colour Day (Monday 21st March) just around the corner, businesses within Brilliant Brighton Business Improvement District (a not-for-profit organisation formed of over 500 city centre businesses) and Brighton cultural organisations, artists and creatives from the ABCD Cultural Recovery Plan want to celebrate Brighton’s vibrant art scene with a guided colourful art trail – lead by curator, Richard Wolfströme.
The Enliven Brighton Art Trail (a trail, which is usually self-guided and launched in January) features work by local artists encompassing walls, bus stops, lampposts and street furniture throughout Brilliant Brighton – and in an exclusive event on Sunday 27th March, a limited number of trail-goers are invited to take on the trail, with it’s curator to hear more about the carefully curated colourful artwork.
Learn more about the murals from Dave Pop and Lee Eelus which bring joy to businesses’ walls, hear more about the inspiration behind Josef Cabey and Gil Mualem-Doron’s bright throught-provoking graphics on bus stops, see Kate Forrester’s delicate detailed sea-inspired illustrations on planters, be cheered by Liberty Cheverall’s spreading positivity on litter bins, and uncover more about artists from inclusive, not-for-profit organisation Rocket Artists Studio whose work brightens up lampposts in Preston Street and North Laine.
Award-winning Brighton creative, Richard – who has over 34 years’ experience in holistic wayfinding and cultural placemaking – was selected by city centre businesses and cultural organisations to design the Enliven Brighton Art Trail, as a self-guided trail running in Brighton city centre between January-June 2022. In this one-off event starting outside Donatello, Brighton Place at 12pm on Sunday 20th March, a select number of trail-goers can explore Brighton’s vibrant art scene and enjoy learning more about the artists and processes behind each artwork. The trail is expected to take approximately one hour.
“It’s been fantastic seeing so many people take on the self-guided Enliven Brighton Art Trail, since it launched in January,” Shelley Welti, Marketing Manager for Brilliant Brighton says. “We’re delighted to celebrate International Colour Day with the trail’s curator giving a personal guided tour on Sunday 27th March – we hope it brightens up a Sunday afternoon!”
