It’s that time of year again and once again, Brighton’s Simon Webster Hair had multiple stylists through to the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Regional Finals and as always, they had a real Brighton vibe to their entries, from the models, to the MUA and styling team, to the clothing labels.
This year the competition was held at the Hammersmith Apollo and around 100 salons were competing for only a few places across three categories in the Grand Finals. SWH Team were thrilled to have an entry in each category with models that they cast from Brighton; Star Colourist Award (Rhiannon Taylor), Men’s Image Award (Patrick Matthews and Yonick Filopoulos) and Colour Trophy Award (Yonick Filopoulos and Patrick Matthews).
Eloise was their model for Star Colourist, and wowed the judges with a look created by Rhiannon, SWH Team’s newest Graduate Stylist. Rhiannon has been at the salon for two years, starting out as an apprentice and in this, her first competition, she came an amazing second place with a creative and innovative colour and cut.
Yonick and Patrick had two entries and the salon was proud to have the clothing for the models styled and provided by two of Brighton’s finest: Gresham Blake for Colour Trophy and Workshop for our Men’s Image. Their MUA for the event was once again the amazing Xoe Kingsley from Brighton Studio.
After intense live-styling and some tough competition, the models took to the floor with some of the industry’s finest judging the looks. SWH Team’s Men’s Image model was Elliot who looked incredible in his shorts-suit from Workshop. Despite a fantastic effort, the salon didn’t progress to the Grand Finals with his look, but are thrilled with the performance of the team in this category. Patrick and Yonick’s fresh, London look was on-trend and highly-skilled.
The final category to be announced was Colour Trophy and model, Gila, had walked the catwalk with true swag and panache, dressed by Gresham Blake in their Collette Suit and killer red heels. Her structural cut and contoured colour was simply stunning and accentuated her natural curl. When the winners were called, the nerves were running high, but we’re thrilled to say that Simon Webster Hair once again got through and so will be one of three salons representing Brighton at the Grand Finals at the start of June.
Amazingly it’ll be the fourth year in the Grand Finals during the five years that Simon Webster Hair has been open – that’s some achievement for an independent, family-run salon!
