Over the coming weeks, we are inviting children from across the city to design their own banner under the brief: ‘Welcome to Brighton’ and enter it into our annual competition.
The winning designs will be displayed throughout the city centre from May through to September above Western Road and North Street – so will be seen by millions!
There is space for over 90 winners and each banner will list the name of the child, along with their school.
Entrants are free to design their banner however they like, so long as it’s big, bold and shows the essence of our vibrant city by the sea. Each entry must be A4 in size. The designs will need to be able to be digitally scanned, but any medium can be used; paint, crayon, pens etc.
The only must is that the designs will need to be seen from the street, so the bolder and simpler the better. The deadline for entries is Friday 31st March 2017.
“It’s a great opportunity to get involved in a really high profile event and we will have the banners up in time for Brighton Festival and the Children’s Parade in May,” Brilliant Brighton’s CEO Gavin Stewart says.
“Entrants are asked to think about what makes this city great: do they love the Lanes? Or maybe they prefer North Laine? What’s their favourite tourist attraction? What hidden gem do they adore? Do they love the city for being environmentally friendly? Do they love it because it’s modern or because of its history?
“We’ll be putting all the entries on ourFacebook page so that each school’s families can be fully engaged in helping to make Brighton as welcoming as possible this summer!”
