Rieker are one of the best known names in the shoe-world and we’re fortunate to have one in the heart of Brighton. To find out more about this super shoe store, we caught up with the Market Street shop’s manager Sue:
Who are Rieker?
Rieker was founded in the Black Forest region of Southern Germany in 1874. The company soon gained a reputation for quality and has built itself into a household name in central Europe. The company has been family owned for five generations and its commitment to quality and style has ensured continuous growth.
Rieker antistress footwear is unique. It is flexible (good flexibility aids natural walking and reduces fatigue in the feet, knees, back and hips), light (it makes it feel like you have nothing on your feet so you can keep going for longer), roomy (shoes are constructed to devote space to where the foot expands throughout the day) and shock-absorbing (all Rieker shoes feature shock absorbing technology both at the heel and throughout the sole).
When did the Brighton store open and how long have you worked for Rieker?
The Brighton store opened in March 2016. I have worked for the company since September 2016.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love spending time chatting to customers about anything! It’s nice to find out about people and what they are doing – whether they are locals or tourists and I find it easy to talk about Rieker as it is a brand I believe in. Behind the scenes I love to be organised!
What are your bestsellers?
Our bestsellers this season have been our colourful boots. Our customers love them because they are so different and unique.
What can we expect to see in-store for spring?
You can expect a good mixture of our standard shoes and sandals this spring, plus some nice new lines which I am going to HQ to see next month. We have started getting a mid-season range in which are looking fab and bridge the gap between winter and summer shoes.
Finally, what are your favourite styles?
My favourite styles were definitely the heeled ankle boots with coloured wool which came in four different colours. Right now, I am really liking the sparkly shoes that have just arrived in our mid-season range.
