Meet the Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors: Mitch

The Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors are on-hand to help, 364 days a year, and assist with everything from crime assistance to first aid and signposting visitors to the stores, restaurants and cafes they’re looking for. They’re a hard-working, friendly team who help make our city a safe and wonderful place to be.

To find out more about all the Ambassadors do, we’re shining the spotlight on a member of our Ambassador team each month. This month, it’s the turn of Mitch, who has been part of the team for almost six years.

Hi Mitch! What does a ‘normal’ day look like for you?

No day is ever the same, an average day consists of viewing CCTV from various businesses who form part of the Brighton Improvement District (BID, also known as Brilliant Brighton) to identify prolific shoplifters. We then provide information to Sussex Police and our partners. All of our BID Ambassadors have incredible local knowledge, be it geographical or regarding regular offenders.

What’s been the biggest highlight of being an Ambassador?

The biggest highlight I have experienced was a high value shop theft that took place from one of our member’s stores. Our team performed a dynamic risk assessment followed by a proactive team effort to quickly identify the offender. This action resulted in the recovery of all the high value stock that totalled £1.7k.

What do you enjoy, most about what you do?

The thing I love most about being a BID Ambassador is that the role is in the heart of Brighton, we always have something new to see or something happening. Just when you think you have seen it all, something ‘Brighton’ happens!
