Meet The Manager: Sweaty Betty’s Kamila

In our latest Meet The Manager feature, we caught up with Kamila – manager of Sweaty Betty Brighton’s East Street store, to hear more about their bestsellers, free wellness events and classes and what she enjoys getting up to in Brilliant Brighton…

When did the Brighton store open?

The first store in Brighton opened in 2005 in Regents Arcade, we have recently relocated to 65 East Street in October 2021.

Why did you want to join the team?

I had been working in retail for several years when I joined Sweaty Betty where I could combine my two biggest passions; fitness and helping others. The Sweaty Betty mission always has been empowering women through fitness, and beyond which is also my ethos.

I was manager in the Kensington store first, for a couple of years. I also completed my personal trainer qualifications then, which Sweaty Betty was very supportive of.

I decided I wanted to move out of London in 2017 and Sweaty Betty helped me, by offering me the role in our lovely Brighton store. Moving here was one of the best life decisions I have made!

We have created a beautiful community in Brighton, where we organise free classes and events for all our customers. It’s amazing to work with like-minded people, sharing the same values in a supportive, inspiring and empowering environment.

Can you tell us a little about the range of products you stock?

We have a wide range of products from running to yoga. The latest and newest Super Soft Yoga range is very popular. We pride ourselves in creating products with fantastic design and high quality.

The SS22 collection’s beautiful bright colours will be a hit in Brighton. We are very focused on sustainability; our products are made from recycled fabrics in factories using significantly less water to produce them. Two years ago we launched our first recycled leggings made from recycled plastic bottles and we continue to grow the range by adding more to every collection. Last year, our swimwear fabric was created with recycled fishing nets. Our customers can also recycle their old leggings in store and get £10 Sweaty Betty voucher.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy working in the community, helping others,  and organising events the most – and not to mention, wearing the most comfortable clothes ever!

What’s your day-to-day routine like?

The typical day for me normally starts early in the morning in the class in one of my favourite boxing studios. I arrive at the store early to prepare for opening, checking emails, planning what needs to be done on the day, briefing the team and then spend most of the day on the shop floor helping our lovely customers.

Which items are your bestsellers?

Power Leggings! Once you have a pair you won’t go back! Bum sculpting, sweat-wicking with both handy side and back zip pockets, you can wear them for all activities. Every season we have variety of colours and prints.

Sweaty Betty regular hold events – what have you been up to lately?

We are holding monthly Wellness Wednesday in store and 16th February one will be all about love and self-love workshop with Kate Dennison, of The Oasis Way  at 5:30pm.

Is there anything else exciting coming up you’d like us to share?

We are currently running yoga classes every Monday, and from March we will be adding another class to our schedule; barre which I’ll be having the pleasure to teach. All our classes and events are free for all our customers.

And finally, when you’re not working, what do you enjoy getting up to in Brilliant Brighton?!

On my day off I love walks on the seafront, sometimes runs with my partner. I like trying new places to eat or have cheeky cocktail. I have lived in Brighton for almost four years now and still exploring new places.

Visit Kamila and the team (and don’t miss their monthly Wellness Wednesday events, and free yoga and barre classes every Monday) at 65 East Street, Brighton.
