Brilliant Brighton’s Christmas Lights Shine from Friday 14th November

It’s nearly time! Brighton’s city centre is set to sparkle once again, as the much-loved Christmas lights will be switched on from Friday 14th November – bringing festive cheer to streets across the city.

The lights, which are proudly funded by over 500 Brilliant Brighton BID businesses (and sponsored this year by Costa Coffee), will illuminate North Street, Western Road, East Street, parts of The Lanes and North Laine and Preston Street, creating a magical atmosphere for shoppers, visitors and residents to enjoy throughout the festive season.

Unfortunately, due to a power supply issue from the Distribution Network Operator (the company responsible for electricity across the city centre), two lights at the bottom of North Street will sadly not be switched on straight away.

Brilliant Brighton and its lighting contractors are in close contact with the power company and have been advised that these lights should be up and shining by the end of the month.

“We’re, of course, disappointed that two lights won’t be ready in time,” says Shelley Welti, Marketing & Events Manager for Brilliant Brighton. “But we’re looking forward to seeing them sparkle very soon, and we’re delighted that the rest of the city centre will be sparkling from the 14th, ready to welcome everyone for a festive season full of shopping, dining and celebrations.”The celebrations continue on Saturday 6th December (2–6pm) with Brilliant Brighton’s Festive Afternoon – a joyful event filled with live performances, the return of a Christmassy window dressing  and plenty of festive fun, all set against the backdrop of the city’s twinkling lights. See you there!
