Residents and daytrippers alike of all ages are invited to fall in love with Brighton all over again this summer with our We Love Brighton Heart Trail – a free city-centre activity running from Saturday 25th July to Sunday 6th September.
The trail is inspired by the vibrant We Love Brighton banners created by fantastic Brighton illustrator Donough O’Malley, which have added further colour and fun to the city centre as part of Brilliant Brighton’s wider summer dressing project. Funded by Brighton’s city centre businesses who form Brilliant Brighton BID, the project has filled the streets with banners, bunting and floral displays, brightening up the city centre during the summer months.
Throughout the summer holidays, the banner designs will appear in the windows of participating businesses across Brighton city centre. Trail-goers simply need to pick up a trail form from a participating business (or download one here), count the hidden hearts within each design, and submit the total number of hearts found on the Brilliant Brighton website for the chance to win a Brighton Gift Card to spend at more than 60 city centre businesses.
The free trail encourages trail-goers to discover Brighton’s varied array of fantastic shops, restaurants and salons, while taking a closer look at the artwork celebrating everything that makes the city so special.
Donough O’Malley, illustrator of the We Love Brighton collection, said: “When I was creating these illustrations for Brilliant Brighton, I wanted to visualise mine and many other people’s love for the city, so I decided to sneak in some hearts in each image to show this.
“Some of the illustrations might only have one, some many, many more. Like Brighton itself, these illustrations have a few gems hidden away. Some hearts are easy to spot, while some are not so clear to see. It’s up to the viewer to see if they can find them all.”

Trail forms can be collected from participating businesses and downloaded from the Brilliant Brighton website. Completed entries must be submitted by Sunday 6th September to be entered into the prize draw.
